Once only available in "emerging markets," this $379 Vista capable laptop has finally meandered its way into the US.
The Dell Vostro A860 is a 15.6" laptop that has been available to emerging markets in Asia, Africa, Europe and Latin America since late August, but has only now arrived Stateside.
At the starting price you'll get an Intel Celeron M (upgradable to Dual Core), a GM965 Chipset with GMA X3100+ integrated graphics, 1GB RAM (upgradable to 2GB), a 120GB HDD (upgradable to 160GB), and a DVD/CD-RW or a DVD burner, which, again, is an upgrade. That's how you know it's a Dell.
The display has a resolution of 1366x768 and with the standard 4 cell battery it weighs in at a moderate 5.4lbs, although we shudder to think of the battery life. Still, can't beat that value.
